The toolkit has been piloted with a range of arts organisations. Some of the benefits experienced by the participating organisations were:

• It helped them with identification of practical and simple energy cost reduction measures. Typically resulting in savings of 10% - 20%, but on occasion significantly more
• Improving the organisation's energy efficiency helped to keep overall energy costs relatively stable despite increasing energy prices
• Developing an energy (and carbon) reduction plan helped the organisations to positively engage and communicate with the public and other stakeholders
• Understanding the current carbon performance and developing a plan for its reduction helps the organisations to prepare for and keep ahead of future legislative requirements.
• Endorsement by Arts Council England enabled the organisations to mobilise and engage internal stakeholders. This helped them to get senior management commitment for the plan and even get resources for its implementation.
